The Soccer Club Italia Berlino is Planing its Ascent
Berlin’s only Italian soccer club wants to advance out of the local leagues.

[...] Salvatore Parisi is also infected by the euphoria. He has spent 20 of his 25 years in Berlin a fan of Club Italia. It’s home for him, the place where meets friends and cheers on the team. “The atmosphere’s bombastic,” says the 38-year-old, who is seated on the stone benches of a stadium in Lichterfelde. The date is June 1, 2008. Club Italia has just defeated Berolina Mitte 6:0, securing the local championship title and an advance into the borough league. In the stands the Italians are celebrating. The men shout “per que?” when the referee whistles for the other team, and they call out “oh, oh attenzione” when a Berolina Mitte player is off-sides—though it’s a rare occurrence today.
