| Images of the City under Construction 2001 - 2007 | “Images of the City under Construction” is an artist’s archive of Berlin history from 1993 to the present. Here, among demolished buildings, construction pits, and wastelands, Berlin’s changes become manifest, even if only in momentarily exposed layers of time. Berlin’s construction sites are the real protagonists of the city’s transformation. Their ephemeral spaces allow glimpses into the past while making reference to the near future.
In the painting, the canvas becomes a construction site of imaginary space that opens up new perspectives and fictive views for seeing real city space.
